Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I go to therapy?

Therapy can provide a nonbiased and safe space to talk about your feelings with a therapist and work through any issues that may be affecting you.

How do I know if I need therapy?

Therapy is useful to nearly everyone. Here are examples of why people engage in therapy:

  • Personal Growth
  • Feeling discontent or stuck
  • Anxiety, depression or anger
  • Major life event
  • Grief and Loss
  • Traumatic experience

How does talking about my feelings help me?

Talking about personal issues with a therapist is a healthy way to gain insight into problems and manage emotions.

I’m nervous about starting therapy, is that normal?

It is perfectly normal to feel nervous about starting therapy. It can be a frightening experience to think about sharing some of your most intimate feelings with a stranger. Therapy sessions are confidential and you can stop at any time.

Will therapy change who I am?

The goal of therapy is to help you experience the best version of yourself by eliminating or controlling troubling behaviors, thoughts or feelings so that you can function better and increase well-being.

What happens during the initial session?

During the initial session, I like to spend time getting to know you and become familiar with your individual needs. After discussing what brings you into therapy, we will collaboratively decide on how you would like to move forward.

What is the length of therapy?

Individual sessions are typically 50 minutes and the frequency of sessions varies person to person. The frequency and duration of therapy sessions are based on my professional recommendation and collaboration with each individual client. This is something we can discuss together.

What is the cost of therapy?

My fee is $120 per session. If you feel this is a barrier to receiving services, I offer a sliding scale. Currently, I do not accept any insurance plans. However, many insurance plans will allow you to submit your treatment costs and they will reimburse you a portion of the expense. Please check with your individual insurance plan for details. Cash, checks and all major credit cards are accepted for payments.
